Acrostic poem

Acrostic poem

For writing this week we are working on writing different poems. This time for my 2nd poem I choose to do a Acrostic poem on the word Family. Here is my poem -

Fun to be around
Able to help you when you need it
Making you happy doesn't matter what happened
Incredible how they make you laugh at nothing
Loving every second of the day
Yummy cookies you baked with you Nana

Colour Poem

Colour Poem

For writing this week we are working on writing different poems. I choose to do a colour poem on red because I love doing colour poems, and red is one of my favourite colours. Here is my poem -

RED
Red is the colour of blood rushing through your veins like a hurricane
Red tastes like a juices strawberry squashing between you teeth
Red smells like a rose damp with the morning dew
Red sounds like a pohutukawa tree dancing in wind like a ballerina on stage
Red feels like the night sky at sunset

WHAT'S IN THE NEWS THIS WEEK?

WHAT'S IN THE NEWS THIS WEEK?

Scientist have found that the largest animal in the world (the blue whale) is recovering in numbers. The blue whales reach nearly 30m long. Blue whales were critically endangered but the blue whales are making a come back. In 1960 the blue whales were on the edge of extinction. Scientist are going to continue monitoring the blue whales. I think this is amazing that the blue whales are increasing their population and not going extinct. It would be so sad to see the world's biggest animal go.
If they did go extinct what animal would be the biggest animal in the world then?
