Maths DLO, Week 5

 Maths DLO, Week 5

First for maths this week we had to make our family. We could be married, Single or in a relation ship. Then you could pick if you had kids, pets and you could pick a car that is either diesel or petrol.

I choose to be married with 4 kids. I have 1 dog and have a petrol car.

Then we were randomly give a wage or a salary. I got a salary of $42,000 a year which means I get $807.69 a week. Then we were random given a Tax, Mortgage and Groceries bill. We were then given a fortune card which could give you money or take away money.

We treated each day as a week and after 4 weeks we got Insurance, SKY TV, Vehicle, Phone, Internet and Electricity. After I had payed everything over the 4 weeks (4 days) I am in debt by $315.07.

Here is my balance sheet -

Object writing number 1

Object writing

For writing this week we are writing object poems. For the poem we had to pick a everyday object and decide it without using the word of what we are describing. So if you were describing a fork you wouldn't use the word fork. Can you guess what my object is?

Object Writing -
Hard card covering the precious pages between, protecting them from any danger.
Thin whitish brown delicate pieces of a tree, hiding in between the covers like children hiding in their bed scared of the storm outside.
Black writing, telling the story, pulling you away from reality like a whirlpool in the middle of the ocean sucking a boat into it’s centre.
Thick spine firmly holding the whole story together, without it the story is just a bunch of jumbled words upon a page.

Wearable Arts

Wearable Arts

Wearable arts is a thing my school does every 2nd year. For this you have to get into group of 2 or 3 people. Then your group has to design and create a outfit that fits into the theme. The theme is West Coast. At the end of the Term there is a show where you present the outfit your group has made.

My group decided to make a outfit based on a fantail. So far my group (Katelynn, Kyra and Me) have cut out our skirt and just need to sew it together. Next time we go to Tech we are going to finish our skirt and top, and start on the tail of our outfit.
Here are some photo's so far -

A SPOOKY Story

A SPOOKY story

For writing Mrs Clark my teacher, gave as another photo like she did last week, but this week was much harder. We had to write a story instead of a paragraph. At the start of the week when she gave as the photo my mind went blank. MY teacher showed us a web site and what a piece of good writing our age looks like. After we all had finished writing our stories we self assessed and peer assessed. Here is the picture, my story and the assessment.

WALT:  Use precise adjectives in our writing to add interest to our readers
Midnight Murder
One Grey misty night on Halloween, My friend and I was walking on our last street. We were trick or treaty, my friend Jesabell spotted a creepy abandoned school I told my friend we should go in but Jesabell was scared “There ccould be ggghosts” said Jesabell,  I told her ghosts aren't real and she was being ridiculous but I was soon to learn… I went into the school, Jesabell being a scaredy cat followed me, as soon as we took a step into the school CREEK!!   “ WWhat was ttthat” Whispered Jesabell in a scared voice “ Don’t be a big baby it’s just the floor silly” I told her.

In the coiner of a room with only one whitish old fashioned wooden chair in it was an even older grandfather clock. The clock strikes 12 DING!!  I hear a faint scream behind me. I looked around Jesabell was nowhere to be seen. All I could hear was an crackly evil laugh  HA HA HA!!  I turned around blackness fell that is all I ever saw again…

SELF ASSESSMENT
Things I think I have done well are:
A variety of punctuation
Used great adjectives
Painting a good picture in the reader's mind
What I think I need to work on
Make all my words and sentences make sense

Pear assessment
I think you have you great adjectives
And a great start for a story
And made it really interesting like perhaps this sentence was good
One Grey misty night on Halloween
But Next time you could make have a little bit more sense
And a bit more nouns verbs and adverbs
But otherwise it was great.
