Explanation on a great learner

 Explanation on a great learner

For writing we have been working on explanation writing. Then we had to writ an explanation on what we think makes a great learner. So hear is my writing.

What makes a great learner?

Definition -  A learner is someone who gains skills or knowledge through practising, studying or being taught. But to be a great learner is someone who is Committed to their learning, there Organised they make sure they have the right equipment at the right place at the right time. Above all they are Persistent they give new things a go and when they fail they try and try again, they never give up.

A great learner is committed to their learning, their studies and their work.  If you're committed to something like your learning  you're willing to make adjustments from where you are learning to how you are learning. For example if you committed to your piece of writing you will finish because you're committed and you want to finish, but if you aren’t committed to the writing you won’t finish the work you won’t care if you finish it. They have to be committed, if they aren’t they won’t finish their work, they won’t listen. They won’t learn.

To be a Great learner you have to be organised for learning. To be organised for learning you have to have the right ejectment, Pens to write down notes, notebooks to write lessons on, so you can look back at it to refresh your memory of what you have learnt before a test.. A chrome or device to write assessments and essays. Another reason why you have to be organised is to make sure you are ready to get to class on time, so you don’t miss any of the learning. For example if you weren’t organise you could sleep in and have to rush to get ready and get to class, but you just miss the class and now you won’t know what you missed, then in a test about that thing you were supposed to learn in that class but you missed that class, so you fail the test.

Now one of the most important things about being a great learner is being persistent. Yes persistent, giving everything a go even if it is new, and if you fail you try again and again until you learn that new thing. This is an important attribute for a great learner. If a great learner wasn’t persistent they wouldn’t be a great learner and wouldn’t achieve much. Imagine if the Wright brothers were not persistent and gave up when the first Air plane they made didn’t work, if they had, we wouldn’t have air planes around today.

In conclusion I think the 3 most important traits you have to have to be a great learner is being committed to your learning, to be organised and above all being persistent never giving up even when it seems you should give up.

Green puppy born in Italy with 4 slings with white fur

 Green puppy born in Italy

Cristian Mallocci a sheep farmer might be expect an occasional black sheep amongst his flock. But how surprised he was when earlier this month, the Mallocci's dog, Spelacchia gave birth to a litter of five pups four of them with white fur just like there mixed breed mother. The other pup wad covered with green fur giving him the name Pistacchio. While the other 4 pups are up for adoption on the Italian island of Sardinia. Pistacchio is staying with the Mallocci family.

The farmer told CNN: "We are keeping him, he arrived in a dark time but he will bring luck!"

Though rear green puppy's are born there was white German Shepherd in North Carolina who gave birth to an unusually coloured pup in January, whose owners later named him Hulk.

I think this is amazing because it is so rare and they are viewing that he will bring luck in suck a dark time.

Current events, Question 6

Current events, Question 6

Current events is a thing we do each week. We go into group and answer question about things in the news from around the world. The we pick one of the questions and write a blog post about that question.

What caused the middle lanes of the Auckland Harbour Bridge to close at the start of the holidays?

a. it was damaged when a truck flipped over in strong winds

b. a minor earthquake caused damage to the road surface

c. a bus hit an oil tanker causing it to leak oil on the road

Answer A - It was damaged when a truck flipped over in strong winds. A new permanent strut has been crafted in Whangārei to replace the temporary fixture reinforcing the structure, after it was badly damaged on September 18.

Tuesday morning saw the Auckland Harbour Bridge close completely to motorists for about an hour as wind gusts reached 98 kilometres per hour. Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency has warned that further lane closures are possible if severe gusts continue. It comes after the bridge was severely damaged on September 18 when a “freak’ gust of wind blew a truck into the bridge.

WALT: Use a tree diagram to find all possible outcomes and make predictions

For Maths today we watched a video showing us who to draw a tree graph to find out the probability for something. Then we had to choose one of the sports from a slide the teacher sent to us. My group choose basketball, here is our results.
